CHAPTER 838 General Meeting

The general membership meeting is typically held on the third Thursday of the month beginning at 7:00-9:00 pm with refreshments starting at 6:30 pm. Our annual picnic and holiday party generally replace the monthly meeting. If you’re thinking of joining, this is the best time to come and meet many of our members. Our meetings feature speakers on current aviation topics. Guests are welcome.

Board of Directors Meeting

      The Chapter 838 Board of Directors meets on the second Thursday of every month at 7:00-9:00 pm unless otherwise noted. The Board of Directors will discuss both old and new business regarding the chapter, activities, and social events. This meeting is open to members unless in closed session.


Explorer Post 218 Meeting

The Explorer Scouts meet on the second and fourth Thursday each month at the Chapter Building. They also assist during Chapter 838 Young Eagle events on the second Saturday from March through November. They also support other Chapter 838 activities as well. Young Eagles

Young Eagles gives kids (8-17) a chance to experience the wild blue yonder with a free mini-ground school course followed by a free flight! We meet on the second Saturday of the month from March through November. Young Eagles must be there before 9:00 am to participate. If the weather isn’t suitable for flying, you can still attend the ground school and then get a raincheck for your free flight on another Young Eagles Saturday. Come fly with us!

Hangar Craftsmen’s Builder Night

Do you like to work with your hands? That’s what these folks do on Monday nights. No, they don’t do cross-stitch, but they do have big needles for stitching the wings! Watch that they don’t put a stitch in your side. Come join us from 7–9 pm and watch a real airplane get built from the ground up. See the Chapter 838 Hangar.

Pancake Breakfasts

    Delicious pancakes cooked to a golden brown on our industrial-sized, hot-rodded, homebuilt griddle. An 838 tradition guaranteed to make your clothes fit just a wee bit tighter around the middle. Also includes airplanes, hangar flying, tall tales, and hanging out at a beautiful airport on a weekend morning. C’mon…what could be better?

Annual Chapter Picnic

Every summer, we hold a picnic for chapter members in place of one of our chapter meetings. We’ll provide burgers, dogs, brats, and chicken, roasted corn on the cob, pop, and coffee, but bring a dish to share!

Annual Chapter Holiday Party

      Come in from the cold for an evening of good food with family and friends amidst beautiful airplanes! What more could you ask from a Wisconsin winter’s night? The Holiday Party is on the first Friday in December.

Monopoly Night
